Tonan was taught by Kin Tae-seok who is the master of Puri, the emperor of Manchukuo. At the age of 11, she inherited the orthodoxy of calligraphy, including the basic five calligraphic styles, formative calligraphy, and the traditional dragon script, which was said only allowed to be used by the emperor.<br \/>\nShe created the \u201cSho Art\u201d (Calligraphic Art) with the flowing lines of the Japanese calligraphy brush. She graduated from Keio University.<br \/>\nShe has held a solo exhibition in New York. In 2016, her solo exhibition \u201cVarious Eyes! Un monde d\u00e9bordant de Kawaii!\u201d was held in Paris. In 2018, she exhibited in the Japan area of \u201cWorld Art Dubai\u201d, one of the leading art fairs in the Middle East as the leading artist in Japan.<br \/>\nThe elements of \u201cfusion\u201d between tradition and innovation, stillness and motion, and bridging of warmth through art are the most important themes of Kanan&#8217;s work.<br \/>\nHer wish is to build a bridge of coexistence and empathy through art.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"img\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/kanan-art.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/kanansumiyoshi.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1378\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-278\" \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KANAN SUMIYOSHI Kanan became an apprentice of the master Tonan at the age of 9.
